Chris Ryan, Senior PGA Professional at the Belfry shows you simple drill to start getting hands ands arms into good position on backswing. The drill lets you fix the dreaded hands moving out, clubhead moving in takeaway that causes so many swing issues throughout the golf swing. The correct move away from the ball is a foundation to a good swing. This drill uses an alignment stick placed into the grip of the golf club. The objective is to keep the alignment stick moving down towards the knee as this promotes a more conventional takeaway with the hands moving inwards and the clubhead moving outwards. The basic drill instructions run from approx. 1:30 to 4:00 minutes with accompanying introduction and wrap-up.
