The first two feet of the backswing

Mark Wood PGA, Master Professional, shows you a simple way of identifying and fix any issues in your takeaway. Mark quotes Jack Nicklaus who believes that the first two feet of the swing are the most important. The drill involves two alignment sticks with the first forming an extension to the shaft upwards to the body and the second place on the target-line behind the ball. Proper execution of the drill results in the two sticks becoming parallel at the half-way point of the backswing. A takeaway that is either too much inside or outside the desired plane is quickly highlighted by any difference in direction between the two sticks. Another quick and simple golf drill that is easy to use.
