Starting your golf swing correctly and with great tempo

Natalie Adams of Smash Factor Golf shows you how to get a smooth takeaway and how to avoid getting too steep in your backswing. Natalie shows us a drill that encourages us to turn our shoulders earlier and helps avoid us getting too active, too soon with the arms which can result in too steep a backswing with insufficient rotation of the body. The drill involves placing a second golf ball just outside of the right foot (for a right-hander) on the inside of the target line. If, when taking the club back, we pass above or on the outside of the ball then we know we are getting too steep. When executed correctly, the takeaway as part of this drill should allow us to gently push the ball backwards off the mat as we start the swing.
